In all my work situations, I have always been lucky to have at least one or two amazing co-workers that I can call my friends. A recent batch of friends came from my time at a start-up. The work of building something from scratch is what brought us together, but in the midst of that, true friendship formed.
We went through the ups and downs of life together. We all cried together when Justin married Jessica. We survived blackouts and storms. We walked from Cambridge to Brookline in the pitch dark once and got out of our building using our little branded flashlights. Each of these women always went above and beyond when it came to work, but also when it came to friendship.
There were countless numbers of DD runs where one of them would always treat, words of encouragement written down and given to me on a birthday, small little pranks played on one another because that’s how much we loved each other, major going out of the way for one another, and twinkies galore.
I’m thankful that I still get to celebrate life moments with them. Danielle, Jess, and Amy – I know that Oprah says here is really true of each of you.
Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down. –Oprah Winfrey
Thanks for always taking the “bus” with me.
