Do you know this castle? It’s probably my favorite castle. It also happens to be where my favorite mouse likes to hang out. Did you guess Cinderella’s Castle and Mickey Mouse? You know me so well….
Disney World is one of my favorite places to go. I love the magic, the characters, the warm weather and most of all, I love the memories. I first went to Disneyland in California when I was about four or five years old. Honestly, I can’t remember the first time I went to Disney World in Florida. But when I was in middle school, I remember hitting all the Florida theme parks in the intense summer heat – numerous years. After that, I was hooked.
Disney was the place where imagination came alive and the attention to detail was amazing. As an adult, I’ve come to appreciate it so much more. I am fascinated by the life of Walt Disney and all that he accomplished. How inspiring is his life? He truly made his visions come to life!
Every year, we make an annual pilgrimage to Florida to visit family and enjoy the warm break from harsh New England winters. During our annual trip, I always make my way to Disney. It reminds me of my childhood and the times I spent with my cousins. It reminds me of my aunts who were my second mothers for the summers. It reminds of a time when we felt safe enough to let a thirteen-year-old be in charge of her young cousins at a theme park – with no adults!
Now, Disney is a place where Ninjette gets to be inspired and see her imagination come to life. I love seeing her revel in meeting the characters, trying new things and being able to share this experience with me. Seeing all of the things that I loved as a child through her eyes has been an amazing experience for me.
Every year that I visit my favorite mouse, it’s like seeing an old friend. I may grow older and my daughter may grow older, but I love that he never ages and that he sparks the kid in all of us.
