When my days are busy, I forget to look up. These days, life is hectic. I forget to eat, forget to take the laundry out of the dryer, forget to grocery shop and the list goes on.
I don’t imagine our lives getting any less busy. I can see how the days just become a big blur.
It’s usually in those moments, though, that my kid is pointing out something beautiful and worth taking the time to look up for. The other day, it was the sky and the clouds. Today, it was watching her and a friend make a huge nest out of the leaves. Seeing the sheer joy in jumping in a pile of leaves was well worth the 30 seconds to stop whatever I was doing and look up.
I don’t want to miss the small moments that will be the memories I will think of later on. I don’t want to let my days pass by in a big blur.
Remind me – often – to stop and look up. I will do the same for you, my friend.
What a beautiful thought, dear Phyllis. Thanks for the reminder!

I definitely find I look around most during these gorgeous fall days. I’ll need the reminder to find something beautiful come February!
