Breakfast To Go

Stonyfield Organic Whole Milk SmoothieI was so delighted to receive my Stonyfield Whole Milk Smoothie the other week because it rescued my breakfast rut. Breakfast is one of the hardest meals for me to figure out. Part of it is because I’m not fond of breakfast foods and the other part of it is because I’m always rushing out the door to get to school and work. My daughter is not a fan of breakfast items either, so it makes our morning routine tough. The one thing that we both love, though, is smoothies.

I don’t always have time to bring out the blender to make smoothies in the morning and find that other store bought smoothies tend to be too sugary. I feel good about drinking these smoothies because I know that the ingredients that go into them are pretty much the same as what I would put into my own blender. Stonyfield’s Whole Milk Smoothie has the following ingredients: Cultured Pasteurized Organic Whole Milk, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Strawberry Juice From Concentrate, Natural Flavor, Pectin, Organic Beet Juice Concentrate (For Color) and Vitamin D3. Isn’t it great that you can identify what all of those ingredients are?

When I’m in that morning rush, I love that I can grab one of these and get a filling breakfast to go. It also makes a great quick lunch or snack to tide you over until dinner if you’ve missed lunch. (Lunch is one of my favorite meals of the day, but I don’t always get to eat it!) It’s convenient, but it’s also a smart food choice. I’ve usually opted for things like chips or fast food which leave me feeling tired and yucky, so I’m glad to have this tasty alternative.

I’ve also found that these smoothies are a great base for making my own smoothies with more added fruits. Instead of milk or juice, I throw one of these in my blender with a banana and any other fruits that we want. We’re going to try making yogurt pops next by freezing them in our popsicle molds.

I know that most of us don’t drink whole milk or a regular basis, but give this a try. Our family doesn’t drink much milk, but we do love our yogurts and cheeses. So having a whole milk smoothie once or twice a week is great way to get some protein and dairy in our bodies. If you are a family that does consume a lot of milk, these are great as on-the-go snacks or meals for road trips, soccer games, after school or whatever your active family might be doing. Plus, who doesn’t love a smiling kid with a Stonyfield Whole Milk Smoothie mustache?
